sustainable commuting
This interview with Tommy Hayes really made me appreciate Lyft more as a company. Tommy is the Transportation Policy Manager at Lyft and he gave some very interesting insights into the future of ride sharing. I was ultimately surprised that Lyft isn't trying to be the only transportation choice but one of many options. He actually used the word "sustainable" when describing using multiple methods of mobility. Most companies kind of dance around the word sustainable because it's been overused and used wrongly. I felt it was a breathe of fresh air to have someone talking about how choices are good for sustainability.
Lyft is looking into partnering with public transportation to come up with a partnership that provides mutual benefits. A lot of people drive because public transport doesn't reach them, but this could be solved if they just took a quick Lyft ride to the transit stop. They're also trying to get their communities into the cleanest, most efficient vehicles possible.
I definitely have more respect for Lyft now, even though I'm an Uber girl at heart.
