progress and new goals

Things are going really well with my ecological footprint reduction goals. Meatless Mondays are spreading to the rest of my week and I find myself becoming more and more "veggie-positive". I feel like my meals are much more vibrant, I love it. I compost all of my food waste and all of my paper waste that I cannot recycle. I have way less trash now too! I still haven't gotten compost bags yet though. My final goal to buy 75% local produce is also going really well. I don't know if it'll be a lifestyle change just because it's so expensive, but I love going to the Bellingham Farmers Market every weekend. I'm a regular there now and it's a nice Saturday routine.

I was browsing Sustainable Connections for ideas on how to reduce my ecological footprint even further and I really want to focus on local businesses. Small, local businesses are more fun to go to and supporting them supports the community. The social aspect of sustainability is so often forgotten and that has always really bothered me. I want to focus on those businesses that source locally, so this goal pairs closely with my local produce goal. I want to reduce my food miles, support local businesses, and eat better.
Above is a picture of my coffee from Woods the other day, on a treat yo self day. Woods Coffee is a local business that uses whole ingredients, supports the community, and sources everything they can locally. And if you're wondering, this is a 16oz blended Snickers Mocha in a 20oz cup so I could have more whipped cream. Eat local and treat yo self.
